Monday's speaker: Comer Yates, Executive Director of the Atlanta Speech School. Since 1938, the school has served children with dyslexia, hearing loss, and speech and language disorders. These are the kids who need something a traditional classroom can't give them.

What a great meeting we had this week. More than 30 Buckhead Rotarians hit the road to Open Hand's headquarters, where CEO — and former/future Buckhead Rotarian — Matt Pieper walked us through the remarkable work his team does feeding Atlanta's most vulnerable neighbors. (Matt, we're holding you to that promise to come back!) Their lead nutritionists then put us through a rousing round of Nutrition Jeopardy! — competitive Rotarians plus buzzer-worthy trivia is exactly the kind of fun you don't get sitting still — before touring us through the kitchen where it all happens.

Everyone that made the trek were rewarded as the first recipients of our 75th Anniversary Commemorative Challenge Coin. Each Buckhead Rotarian gets two coins stamped with the Four-Way Test. Keep one in your pocket as a daily reminder of the standard we hold ourselves to. Hand the other to a prospective member, invite them to Maggiano's, and have them give the coin to our Sergeant at Arms when they arrive — Scott returns it to you.

If you did not get your coins, we will be distributing them next Monday, August 31, when the Atlanta Speech School's Comer Yates speaks on winning the war against illiteracy. Be sure to REGISTER and bring a guest!

The GRSP Conclave was recently held in Savannah, where Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) students from all three Georgia Districts—including our own District 6900—met for the very first time.
Buckhead Rotary's sponsored student, Neslihan Atici from Turkey, attended alongside 37 classmates representing more than 20 countries. They were joined by host families, trustees, and other GRSP leaders to celebrate the occasion. During the event, Neslihan helped quiz the audience on her home country of Turkey and performed a dance with Dunwoody GRSP student Alejandro Sebastian Samayoa from Guatemala.
