Horizons Atlanta Professional Development for Site Teachers + Leadership

Since its charter on March 23, 1951, the Rotary Club of Buckhead has answered the call of Service Above Self in Atlanta — seventy-five years of it, a milestone our club celebrates throughout this 2026–2027 Rotary year. As we mark our diamond anniversary, we can think of no more fitting tribute to our founders than a project that invests in peace exactly as District Governor Cynthia has challenged us to: not through words, but through service and action that address the root causes of conflict.

In partnership with Horizons Atlanta — our club's signature education partner and a member of the Horizons National network whose summer-learning model traces its roots to 1964 — Buckhead Rotary will fund and personally participate in a peacebuilding professional development initiative for the 35–40 Site Directors, Lead Site Staff, and Regional Staff who lead learning environments for nearly 900 scholars across nine metro Atlanta program sites. Training in restorative practices, conflict resolution, social-emotional learning (SEL), and trauma-informed leadership will equip these leaders to build classrooms rooted in empathy, belonging, and peace — a multiplier effect that reaches hundreds of families through a single, well-designed investment.
