Buckhead Rotary kicked off this Signature Club Project last July to help upgrade the five fire stations in the Buckhead Battalion to make them more comfortable for our brave firefighters. After securing a list ranging from silverware and kitchen appliances, to recliners, outdoor grills and exercise equipment, individual Club members procured and donated these items to improve the firefighters' lives while on duty at the stations. The Club donated $25,000 to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation (AFRF) to purchase new industrial washers and dryers for the Battalion.

At the Feb. 28 ribbon-cutting to celebrate renovation of Fire Station 26, Club President Greg Davis joined the Atlanta Mayor, the Atlanta Fire Chief and the AFRF head to make remarks and cut the ribbon.

This project has garnered so much publicity that businesses and private citizens in Buckhead have joined the bandwagon to improve the fire stations. AFRF hopes this sparks a city-wide effort to Adopt a Station.

Last November, 20 Club members volunteered at AFRF's "Breakfast with Our Bravest" event to honor the city’s fearless firefighters and EMTs.

Our partnership with Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation and the Atlanta Fire Department's Buckhead Battalion continues in June, when we hold a Club meeting at a fire station so our members can learn more about the life and work of our firefighters. The first year of our three-year Signature project has been tremendously successful. We will continue to volunteer at AFRF events and continue our financial support to renovate the other Buckhead fire stations.
