Roswell’s Big Connect Yields Big Help To Local Causes

After a month of following new Roswell Rotary President Leslie Bassett’s message by connecting with each other and with places in our community, Roswell Rotarians are now connecting to create actions that have both provided supplies to causes in our city and spread the joy of Rotary to other.

First, Rotarians came together on Sunday, August 9 at three breweries throughout the city, each working to put together supplies that were donated to three causes. This was called “The Big Connect.” The group at Voodoo Brewing Co. put together baskets of supplies benefiting Senior Services North Fulton. The group at Gate City built birdhouses for Farm Day. And the group at Variant Brewing put together packages for The Drake House. It was a positive day of Rotarians enjoying working together for three great causes.

Then, at the following Rotary meeting, President Bassett unveiled the true purpose of her “Challenge Coins." She issued a coin to every person involved in The Big Connect and then challenged them to go out into the community and give the coin away to someone who was not in Rotary, but who exemplified the motto of Service Above Self.

“The power of this little piece of metal is not that we collect it, but that we release it,” she told them.

Roswell Rotary looks to carry this momentum into their annual Golf, Tennis & Pickleball Tournament next month, which aims to raise more than $200,000 for local charities.
