Message from the President: Rotary on the Road

This week we took our meeting on the road with an onsite visit to Scouting America, one of our long-standing community partners.

For more than 50 years, Buckhead Rotary has proudly supported Scouting America by funding Eagle Badges, helping recognize young leaders at one of the most meaningful milestones of their Scouting journey. We heard powerful remarks about the lasting impact Scouting has on young adults’ lives and how our consistent investment in Eagle Badges is unmatched.

The visit concluded with a special tour where we saw two of Norman Rockwell’s original charcoal drawings, his first step before full-color paintings, capturing Scouting’s ideals of helpfulness, kindness, and adventure.

A special thank you to Brandon Smith for hosting us and awarding me the dog care merit badge for our work with LifeLine Animal Project. I’m on my way to becoming an Eagle Scout, only 20 more badges to go.

GSRP Leadership Weekend Host Needed

The Rotary Club of Buckhead is sponsoring the upcoming GRSP Leadership Weekend Jan. 30-Feb. 1 and we need a few Rotarians to be weekend host families for students who are not based in metro Atlanta.

Please email Mark Meltzer, mmeltzer@hopebeckham.com, if you are willing to be a weekend host family.

Rotary Night at the ASO

Thank you James! We can't wait to enjoy a fantastic evening at the ASO!

One of our most popular events is coming up, Rotary Night at the ASO, our annual concert and reception at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This year we have arranged our night to correspond with the Grand Opening of the new Goizueta Stage, and the concert will feature some of the ASO’s leading musicians (Mozart, Wagner, Rossini, and Janáček) in a chamber concert in this superb intimate space (only 150 seats).

As in past years, this event will include a reception with open bar and hors d’oeuvres followed by great seats for the concert, at a discounted price of $75 per person. The evening at the ASO is on Friday January 30 at 6:30 pm for a reception in the new Loft Space, in the Woodruff Arts Center immediately followed at 8:00 pm by the chamber concert on the new Goizueta Stage.

PURCHASE TICKETS for special pricing. Early sign-ups get the best seats! The deadline for purchasing tickets is January 23rd. We expect this event to sell out. Please email Jimmy Paulk at James.Paulk@atlantasymphony.org with any questions or help signing up.

No Meeting Monday: MLK Day Celebration
