District 6900 Leads the Way

Next Monday, September 28, District 6900 Governor Cynthia Dorsey Edwards joins us for lunch — then extends her stay to have dinner at President Jeff Clark's house. Bring your best Rotary small talk; she's heard it all.


In 1915 Rotary carved out Georgia into its own District 690. We became "6900" in 1991. Today we're the largest of the three Georgia districts, one of fourteen in Zone 34 — and, frankly, we're the big kid at the table. Zones 33/34 average about 2,130 members and 55 clubs per district. District 6900 runs 67 clubs and 3,800+ Rotarians — nearly 80% bigger than the zone average. We don't just show up to the potluck; we bring the whole casserole.

The generosity matches the size: nearly $500,000 in Foundation-designated giving last year alone, and a #1 ranking in Zone 34 for both PolioPlus and Annual Fund for several years running. 

Governor Edwards — two-time Stone Mountain club president and personal sponsor of 20 new Rotarians — arrives with a "lasting impact" message, and Monday's dinner is where we'll show off our signature projects and how community engagement, social media, and standout speakers are fueling membership growth — growth already on display: new member Jay Gibson recently traded club flags at the storied Geneva Yacht Club, Société Nautique de Genève, carrying Buckhead Rotary's colors onto the shores of Lake Geneva.
